Registered Managers Level S/NVQ 4 (Adults)
Who is it for?
The national minimum standards for care require that managers in care homes will need to have a qualification relevant to the care provided and a qualification in the management of services at S/NVQ Level 4.
The award is not a care qualification, although it does have some units taken from Care S/NVQ at Level 4, enabling people who need to achieve both a care and management qualification to reduce the assessment burden.
This qualification focuses on the task of managing a care service and is the correct choice for managers of care homes. This includes services for older people, people with learning disabilities and people with mental health problems.

Course delivery and assessment
The advisor/assessor will meet with the candidate in the workplace and agree the assessment and training plan for the programme. This process will include evaluating any prior skills, knowledge and existing qualifications which will be recognised in determining the planned programme. Candidates will then commence the programme and work through the comprehensive learning materials support provided, and complete activities and assessments for each unit. The advisor/assessor will support candidates with these and also oversee learners carrying out practical tasks in the workplace. This will involve regular contact, including workplace visits with the advisor/assessor throughout the programme. The duration of the programme will vary usually depending on the amount of time the candidate is able to devote to the programme. Most candidates would aim to complete the process between 12-18 months from the commencement of the programme.
